WASHINGTON, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Inter Miami has signed former Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon on a free transfer, the MLS club said on Monday.
Reguilon, who turns 29 on Tuesday, agreed to a two-year deal with the option of a 12-month extension.
The Spain international left-back had been without a club since parting ways with Tottenham Hotspur in June. He made 73 appearances across all competitions for the London club, scoring two goals.
"It is a very ambitious project, a champion club that is doing things very well, and that is what attracts me: coming here to keep winning and competing," Reguilon said. "My goal is to keep winning, go after the trophies we are missing and win everything here."
The announcement came nine days after Inter Miami secured its first MLS Cup title with a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps. ■
