Death toll rises to 16 in Sydney's Bondi Beach shooting

The death toll from a shooting at Sydney's Bondi Beach on Sunday has risen to 16, with a father and son identified as the attackers, police said Monday.

Police in the state of New South Wales (NSW) said on Monday morning that 16 people have been confirmed dead after the shooting.

A police statement said that 14 people died at the scene and two others died in the hospital.

The deceased range in age from 10 to 87 years old and include one of the attackers.

Hamas confirms death of senior commander in Israeli strike

Hamas' Gaza chief, Khalil al-Hayya, on Sunday confirmed the death of senior commander Raad Saad in an Israeli strike a day earlier.

Marking the 38th anniversary of Hamas' founding, al-Hayya said in a televised address that "Raad Saad was killed along with his brothers."

He added that "this leader dedicated his life to his religion and homeland and lived as a fugitive from the occupation for decades."

Voting begins in Chilean presidential runoff

Voting in the Chilean presidential runoff election opened on Sunday, with leftist candidate Jeannette Jara and Republican contender Jose Antonio Kast competing in the runoff.

According to Chile's Electoral Service, the voting began at 8 a.m. local time (1100 GMT) and will end at 6 p.m. (2100 GMT) on the same day, with more than 15 million registered voters.

In this round of voting, the candidate who receives the most votes will win the election. The president-elect will take office on March 11 next year.

Zelensky arrives in Berlin for talks with European leaders

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Berlin on Sunday afternoon for talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and other European leaders.

Second Thai province placed under curfew amid border clashes

Thailand's military announced on Sunday the imposition of a curfew in parts of Trat Province, citing the ongoing situation along the border areas.

Palestinian man killed by Israeli army in West Bank

A Palestinian man was killed on Sunday by Israeli forces near the Kiryat Arba settlement, adjacent to the southern West Bank city of Hebron, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

The Ramallah-based ministry identified the man as Mohammed al-Shrouf, 23, saying he was shot at the northern entrance to Hebron. It added that Israeli forces seized his body and prevented ambulances from reaching the scene.

Israeli media reported that a Palestinian attempted to stab Israeli soldiers in the Kiryat Arba area, prompting the troops to open fire and kill him. No Israeli soldiers were injured, the reports said.

3 Hezbollah members killed in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon

Three Hezbollah members were killed, and a fourth was wounded on Sunday in Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon, Lebanese officials and security sources said.

Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said an Israeli drone struck a motorcycle in the village of Yater in the Bint Jbeil district, killing one person and wounding another.

A second Israeli drone hit a car between the towns of Safad al-Battikh and Baraachit, also in the Bint Jbeil district, killing one person. A third person was killed in an Israeli airstrike on a car in the village of Jouaiyya, the agency said.
