RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Bahia has extended the contract of former Brazil international midfielder Everton Ribeiro, the Brazilian Serie A side said on Saturday.
The 36-year-old, whose previous deal had been due to expire on December 31, will now be tied to the club until December 2026.
"Our captain and symbol of a new era has renewed his contract," Bahia said in a social media post.
Ribeiro has played 121 matches across all competitions for Bahia since joining the club in January last year, scoring nine goals and providing 17 assists.
His career has included spells at Flamengo, Cruzeiro and Corinthians, among other clubs. He has been capped 22 times for Brazil since his international debut in 2014. ■
