BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD) has launched its "Navigating 2030" plan, local media reported on Friday.
According to local media outlet The Bruneian, the five-year strategic plan for 2026-2030 outlines a transformative roadmap to elevate the nation's maritime and port sector.
Pengiran Shamhary Pengiran Mustapha, Brunei's minister of transport and infocommunications and chairman of MPABD, said the strategic plan marks a decisive step in positioning the maritime and ports sector as a central pillar of Brunei's national competitiveness and economic resilience.
He emphasized that while Brunei's maritime heritage runs deep, the sector must now move beyond its traditional supporting role. Instead, it should evolve into a dynamic driver of trade, investment, innovation and sustainable growth.
Under Navigating 2030, the MPABD aims to uphold the highest standards of safety and sustainability, cultivate a thriving maritime economy, and build a quality, future-ready workforce. ■
