KATHMANDU, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Nepal lost property worth 84.45 billion Nepalese rupees (584.95 million U.S. dollars) during the deadly protest in September, a government report said on Thursday.
The report, prepared by the National Planning Commission, shows that the government and public sectors suffered the highest losses at 44.93 billion rupees, followed by the private sector with 33.54 billion rupees. The community sector incurred losses worth 5.97 billion rupees.
"The losses occurred in 2,671 buildings and 12,659 vehicles," the report said, noting that as many as 54 of 77 districts and 262 of 753 local units suffered some form of damage. (1 Nepalese rupee equals 0.0069 U.S. dollar) ■
