RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo is in talks to sign forward Lucas Villalba from Uruguay's Nacional, the Brazilian Serie A side said on Wednesday.
Villalba, who is contracted to Nacional until July 2028, has agreed to personal terms and will undergo a medical in Rio de Janeiro in the coming days, Botafogo sporting director Alessandro Brito said.
"We are in negotiations," news outlet O Globo quoted Brito as saying. "It isn't a done deal yet but he is a target of ours. He is a winger who plays on the right and is the type of player who can give us what we lacked this year, which is an ability to be direct and attack space."
Villalba has scored four goals and provided nine assists across all competitions since joining Nacional from Montevideo City Torque in January.
Botafogo finished sixth in the 20-team Brazilian Serie A this year after winning the title in 2024. ■
