AMMAN, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's King Abdullah II and visiting EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on Sunday stressed the need to achieve comprehensive calm in the region and uphold the sovereignty of states, as they discussed ongoing regional developments.
During their meeting, the two sides reaffirmed that the two-state solution is the sole basis for achieving a just and lasting peace.
King Abdullah urged adherence to the agreement aimed at ending the war in Gaza, the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid, and an immediate halt to unilateral measures against Palestinians in the West Bank, according to a Royal Court statement.
The two sides also discussed ways to enhance economic collaboration, including preparations for the Jordan-EU Summit set to be hosted in Amman in January 2026, as well as a joint economic forum scheduled for next year, with participation from investors on both sides.
Kallas highlighted the EU's commitment to strengthening its partnership with Jordan and noted the kingdom's key role in supporting regional stability. ■
