YORK, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Mark Selby resisted a determined comeback from Judd Trump to seal a 10-8 victory and secure his third UK Championship title on Sunday.
Selby laid the foundations for his first Triple Crown title since 2021 and the 10th of his career with an impressive afternoon session.
He produced near-flawless snooker to race into a 5-0 lead, before defending champion Trump reduced the deficit to 6-2 by the end of the first session.
When play resumed in the evening, Trump intensified the pressure, taking three of the next four frames, but Selby held on. A composed break of 91 moved him 8-5 in front, but several missed pots allowed world number one Trump to close to 8-7 with runs of 125 and 55.
The two traded frames in a tense finale before the 42-year-old sealed the title with a calm, clinical break of 69. ■
