BEIJING, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines from the past week:

1. China powers into semifinals with nine straight wins at ITTF Mixed Team World Cup

China overcame Japan 8-5 before getting past Sweden 8-4 on December 6, advancing into the semifinals with nine wins in as many matches at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Mixed Team World Cup in Chengdu.

Japan finished second in the eight-team second stage despite an 8-7 loss to France, while Germany and South Korea ranked third and fourth, respectively.

In the semifinals, China faces South Korea while Japan takes on Germany, with the winners contending for the title while losers go head-to-head for the bronze. 

2. Su Yiming takes back-to-back big air World Cup titles

China's Olympic champion Su Yiming survived a late scare in his final run to clinch gold in the men's event at the FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup in Beijing on December 6, securing back-to-back victories this season.

After having won the season opener in Chongli the previous weekend, Su appeared set for another victory after posting a leading score of 177.5 points from his first two runs.

However, Japan's Kira Kimura, who sat second after the first two rounds, landed a switchback 1980 drunk driver on his final attempt, scoring 91.25 points to overtake Su with a total of 178.25.

Spurred on by an enthusiastic home crowd, Su responded by repeating the switchback 1980 melon from his second run but executed it more cleanly, raising his total to 181.00 points to claim the title.

3. Dongguan cruises past Jiangsu in 2025-26 WCBA season opener

Defending champion Dongguan opened its 2025-26 Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) campaign with an 88-73 home win over Jiangsu on November 30.

18 teams competing in the new season are divided into two groups, with Group A consisting of last season's top 12 finishers while Group B features other six sides qualified after passing the league's entry.

Teams in Group A will meet each other twice for a combined 22 rounds, while Group B sides are set to face each other four times for a total of 20 rounds.

The 2025-26 WCBA regular season will conclude on February 1, 2026.

4. China secures U-17 Asian Cup spot with perfect record

China sealed its place at next year's AFC U-17 Asian Cup with a 4-0 win over Bangladesh on November 30, wrapping up qualifying with five straight victories, 42 goals scored and none conceded.

Shuai Weihao struck twice in the first half and completed his hat-trick in the 53rd minute to make it 3-0, before Zhao Songyuan added a late fourth.

China had earlier eased past Bahrain, Timor-Leste, Brunei and Sri Lanka.

5. Shanghai lab becomes second WADA-authorized anti-doping lab in China

The Shanghai Anti-Doping Laboratory (SAL) has been granted World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accreditation, WADA announced in Busan, South Korea following its an executive committee meeting on December 2.

This makes the Shanghai lab become the second Chinese anti-doping lab authorized by WADA following the Beijing lab which was founded in 1987. China is now the fourth country that owns two WADA-accredited anti-doping labs, after Germany, the United States and Spain.
