KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- The launch ceremony of "UPanda Cinema" and the China-themed Program Showcase Season in Malaysia was held here on Saturday, attended by over 100 representatives from government departments, cultural institutions and the film and television industry from both China and Malaysia.

Deputy Minister of Communications of Malaysia Teo Nie Ching said in her speech that "UPanda Cinema" offers Malaysian audiences more choices to watch Chinese programs and better understand Chinese culture. She expressed the hope that more high-quality programs will be introduced in the future to further broaden areas of cooperation, convey cultural warmth through film and television, and jointly write a new chapter of friendship.

Zheng Xuefang, minister of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, said that as a signature film and television cooperation project, "UPanda Cinema" follows the arrival of giant pandas "Chen Xing" and "Xiao Yue" in Malaysia. This, he noted, is not only a delightful coincidence, but also a good opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries.

The program, "UPanda Cinema," was officially launched in 2021. It has worked with mainstream local media in over 20 countries and regions, including Russia, France, South Africa, India, and Central Asia, reaching a cumulative overseas audience of more than 130 million.
