FREETOWN, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Hefei, the capital of east China's Anhui Province, during a meeting on Friday.
The meeting was held by Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, mayor of Freetown, and Zheng Hong, vice chairman of the Anhui Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
During the discussions, they highlighted the potential of their respective cities and affirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation, with a focus on deepening collaboration in trade and cultural exchange.
Aki-Sawyerr emphasized the importance of reactivating the partnership, citing opportunities for mutual benefit in areas such as trade, culture, and urban development.
Zheng echoed these sentiments, expressing confidence in the potential for strengthened cooperation between Freetown and Hefei.
The meeting underscored the commitment of both cities to fostering stronger ties and promoting people-to-people diplomacy, with a view to enhancing economic and cultural exchange.
Hefei and Freetown established the sister-city relationship in 1984. ■
