ISLAMABAD, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces exchanged fire with Afghan Taliban forces along the border in Pakistan's southwest Chaman district, Pakistani security sources told Xinhua on Saturday.
Pakistani troops responded with precision to the unprovoked firing, reinforcing that any violation of the country's territorial integrity will be met with immediate and decisive action, said the sources.
The sources said that the firing incident is a reckless act that undermines border stability and regional peace, adding that Pakistan's response was proportionate, calibrated and aimed at restoring calm.
The security sources said that Pakistan remains committed to peaceful coexistence, but unilateral violations by Afghan Taliban forces erode trust and hurt ordinary cross-border communities. ■
