JOHANNESBURG, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- South Africa would not seek to rally other nations to boycott the 2026 Group of Twenty (G20) Summit in Miami, the United States, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said Thursday.

He made the remarks while talking to the media on the sidelines of Cosatu's Golf Day at Johannesburg Golf Club. "No, we don't need to mobilize anyone. Every country must make its own decisions. We don't peddle our role in any way. Countries respect us for what we are, and they applauded our role in the G20," said Ramaphosa.

He said that although media reports indicated the United States is to exclude South Africa from the summit, Pretoria had not yet received any formal written notice. He added that the government would respond only when such communication is received.

"We are yet to receive anything formally, and we will deal with that when it comes," Ramaphosa added.

South Africa remained a fully fledged member of the G20, the South African president reiterated, adding, "We have held a very successful G20. And this is not only being said by us. It is said by many other people around the world. They are saying South Africa's presidency of the G20 was a very successful process."
