BEIJING, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Guangdong Southern Tigers sailed past the Guangzhou Loong Lions 94-80 at the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) Club Cup on Friday.

Despite his side trailing 49-39 at halftime, Guangzhou's rookie guard Pang Yanjun, who was selected sixth overall in the 2025 CBA Draft, produced one of the highlights of the game, stealing Guangdong guard Xu Jie's pass before hitting a half-court heave at the buzzer.

The two sides traded 3-pointers early in the third quarter. Lindell Wigginton had nine points as Guangzhou pulled within 52-55, but Trevelin Queen's 3-pointer steadied the ship for Guangdong, who used an 11-0 run to pull away again en route to a 75-59 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Guangdong maintained a double-figure advantage throughout the fourth quarter.

Queen sank six 3-pointers for a game-high 29 points. Teammates Jared Sullinger and Edmond Sumner added 16 and 15 points, respectively.

"Our defense was better than the last game, but we still need to build chemistry through training and competition," Guangdong coach Du Feng told a post-game press conference.

"We just need to figure each other out. Defensively we've got to be better over time, and it takes time to build a great team," echoed Sullinger.

The Zhejiang Golden Bulls notched their second straight win with a 110-89 victory over the Shenzhen Aviators.

Trailing 79-77 after three quarters, Zhejiang dominated the fourth period, outscoring Shenzhen 33-10 down the stretch.

Zhejiang had five players score in double figures, led by Brandon Randolph with 25 points. Wu Qian had 22 points, while Liu Zeyi, Lu Wenbo and Dakari Johnson scored 17 apiece.

Three National Basketball League (NBL) sides competing in the tournament fared differently on Friday. The Hefei Storm outplayed the Jiangsu Dragons 100-80, and China's Hong Kong Bulls beat the Nanjing Monkey Kings 91-78. However, Changsha Yongsheng fell 101-76 to the Jilin Northeast Tigers.

In the other game of the day, the Ningbo Rockets trounced the Sichuan Blue Whales 99-59.
