LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has signed a one-year contract extension with Los Angeles FC, the club said on Thursday.

The deal ties the 38-year-old to MLS side until December 2026 with an option of another year.

"Hugo has been an incredible leader and standard-bearer for our team since the day he arrived," LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington said. "We're thrilled to have reached an agreement for him to remain with the club."

Lloris has made 91 appearances across all competitions for LAFC since his 2023 arrival from Tottenham Hotspur, keeping 33 clean sheets.

The 2018 World Cup winner said he was looking forward to helping the Californian outfit strive for silverware next season.

"I'm pleased to carry on my journey with LAFC," Lloris said. "From the start, I recognized the ambition of this club and the strong culture among players, staff, and supporters. I came here to compete, to keep playing at a high level and help this club fight for titles - and this environment is the right fit for me at this stage of my career."
