BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.51 percent to 3,878.00 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.78 percent lower at 12,955.25 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.67 trillion yuan (about 236 billion U.S. dollars) -- up from 1.59 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to ultra-hard materials, coal and non-ferrous metals led the gains, while the AI applications, e-commerce, lithium mining, consumer electronics, stablecoins, solid-state battery and computing power sectors saw notable declines.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.12 percent to close at 3,036.79 points. ■
