XI'AN, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) side Shaanxi Yulin Tianze announced Wednesday the signing of American guard-forward Sierra Calhoun.

The club said the 29-year-old has completed her registration and is set to make her WCBA debut against Zhejiang on Friday.

Calhoun, named All-American Player of the Year and New York State Player of the Year in high school, went on to play college basketball at Duke University and Ohio State University in the United States.

In her professional career, Calhoun has played in leagues in Greece, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Türkiye and Puerto Rico. During the 2024-25 season in Puerto Rico, she averaged 14 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

"Calhoun is tall and strong, excelling at driving to the hoop. Additionally, she boasts a high field goal percentage and possesses the outstanding potential of an elite point guard," read the club's media release.

Following a historic 12th-place finish in the 2024-25 season, Shaanxi has relocated its home court from Weinan, a neighboring city of Xi'an, to Yulin in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

After a 112-65 defeat in its opening game of the 2025-26 WCBA regular season on Monday, Shaanxi will face Zhejiang on Friday.
