BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.65 percent to 3,914.01 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.25 percent higher at 13,146.72 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.87 trillion yuan (about 264.28 billion U.S. dollars) -- up from 1.59 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to ceramics, tourism and non-ferrous metals led the gains, while the furniture production, road and bridge operation, and printing and packaging sectors saw notable declines.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.31 percent to close at 3,092.5 points on Monday. ■
