TEHRAN, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Navy of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has seized an Eswatini-flagged ship carrying 350,000 liters of "smuggled fuel" in the Persian Gulf, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Sunday.
The seizure was made following a judicial order, in line with protecting Iran's maritime boundaries, especially in the Persian Gulf, and on the back of the naval forces' full dominance over the region, Fars quoted Heydar Honarian-Mojarrad, commander of the IRGC Navy's second naval zone, as saying, without specifying the confiscation's date.
The commander noted that the vessel carrying 350,000 liters of diesel was directed to the coast of Iran's southern Bushehr province. The diesel shipment was being unloaded to be transferred to a local oil and gas company.
Honarian-Mojarrad said 13 crew members from a "neighboring country," and India were on board the ship at the time of the seizure. ■
