COLOMBO, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Adverse weather in Sri Lanka has killed 334 by 6 p.m. local time on Sunday, Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Center (DMC) said.

The DMC said at least 370 people remain missing and 1,118,929 individuals from 309,607 families have been affected by heavy rains, flooding, and landslides.

Amid the ongoing crisis, the country's Ministry of Education announced that all universities, higher education institutions, and vocational training centers under its purview will suspend academic activities until Dec. 8.

The decision was made due to widespread transportation disruptions, damaged infrastructure, and safety risks posed by the continuing adverse weather, the ministry said.
