BAGHDAD, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The gas transportation from the Khor Mor gas field in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region to power plants has resumed following a recent drone attack that halted its operations, the regional electricity authorities announced on Sunday.
At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday local time (2300 GMT on Saturday), gas transfer from the Khor Mor field to power stations began, and the power stations will be restarted, the authorities said in a statement.
It added that the electricity situation is improving and will return completely to normal within 24 hours.
The Khor Mor gas field was targeted by a drone attack late Wednesday, which resulted in a complete halt to gas supplies to power plants.
The Khor Mor gas field is instrumental in providing natural gas for electricity generation across the region. ■
