BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese center Han Xu scored 22 points on her Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) debut in Australia as the Perth Lynx beat the UC Capitals 91-67 away on Saturday.
Han shot 10 of 12 from the field, including 9 of 9 on two-pointers, to share a game-high 22 points with her Lynx teammate Amy Atwell. She added four rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks, and was voted the WNBL's Player of the Game.
The 24-year-old made all four of her first-quarter attempts as Perth led 23-17 and pulled away by outscoring Canberra 21-10 in the fourth.
Han announced in October she would join the Lynx for the 2025-26 WNBL season. After competing at China's 15th National Games with Sichuan earlier this month, she linked up with Perth and took part in her first team training on November 25.
On the international stage, Han has represented China at major tournaments over the past two Olympic cycles, finishing runner-up at the 2022 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup and winning the 2023 FIBA Women's Asia Cup and Asian Games.
The new WNBL season tipped off on October 18 with eight teams. Han is slated to make her home debut on December 5 when the Perth Lynx hosts the Southside Melbourne Flyers. ■
