BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The State Council Work Safety Committee has mandated supervised oversight of the investigation into a fatal collision between a test train and maintenance workers on a railway track in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, the Ministry of Emergency Management said on Friday.

The collision occurred in the early hours of Thursday at Luoyangzhen Station in Kunming, killing 11 people and injuring two others.

The ministry emphasized the urgent need for a thorough investigation into the cause of the collision and implementation of robust preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
