KABUL, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government has pardoned and released 3,204 prisoners across the country under a nationwide amnesty, the country's Supreme Court announced late Tuesday.
Following directives from the High Authority of the Supreme Court and comprehensive inspections by a special delegation, authorities identified eligible prisoners and granted them amnesty, the court said in a statement.
The statement noted that 4,317 other eligible inmates were given reductions in their prison terms. ■
