JERUSALEM, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli military said Wednesday it killed six more militants emerging from a tunnel shaft in Rafah, the southernmost city in Gaza.
In a statement, the military said it identified in the morning the six militants attempting to flee the area and struck them.
It said its troops are continuously searching for militants in eastern Rafah, especially the dozens trapped inside a tunnel.
It added that over the past week, it has killed more than 20 militants and arrested eight others while they attempted to flee the tunnel or go out in search for food and water.
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which took effect on Oct. 10, has sharply reduced Israeli attacks but not halted them entirely.
At least 347 Palestinians have been killed and 889 others injured by Israeli attacks since Oct. 11, Gaza's health authorities said Wednesday, bringing the overall death toll from Israeli attacks since October 2023 to 69,785, with 170,965 others injured. ■
