VILNIUS, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- A LOT Polish Airlines aircraft arriving from Warsaw slid off the taxiway after landing at Vilnius Airport on Wednesday, forcing a temporary runway closure, local media reported.
According to Lithuanian Airports (LTOU), the LOT flight from Warsaw veered off the runway at 1:43 p.m. as it was taxiing toward the apron. All passengers were safely disembarked.
LTOU spokesman Tadas Vasiliauskas told the Baltic News Service (BNS) that emergency services were responding at the scene and that there were no immediate reports of injuries.
"Aircraft are currently neither landing nor taking off," he said.
Parts of Lithuania, including Vilnius, experienced heavy snowfall on Wednesday, with intense snow and wet snow accumulation affecting airport operations.
Authorities have advised residents to postpone any non-essential travel due to the severe winter weather conditions. ■
