SUVA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Fiji has formally joined Phase 2 of the Sustainable Waste Action in the Pacific Project, a regional initiative designed to help Pacific Island countries address mounting waste management and pollution challenges.
The program will run from 2025 to 2028.
Minister for Environment Mosese Bulitavu said Fiji will receive approximately 772,000 Fijian dollars (nearly 336,000 U.S. dollars) under the agreement, dedicated to national-level activities and capacity-building.
The project will deliver targeted assistance for Fiji in four key areas, including reducing marine litter through improved surveys, coastal clean-ups, data collection and community awareness, Bulitavu said. ■
