BEIJING, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.05 percent to 3,836.77 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.37 percent higher at 12,585.08 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.73 trillion yuan (about 244.19 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.97 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to military equipment and shipbuilding led the gains, while those related to energy and metals suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.31 percent to close at 2,929.04 points Monday. ■
