JERUSALEM, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Foreign tourists' overnight stays at Israeli hotels reached the highest monthly level since the Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, according to figures published Monday by the state's Central Bureau of Statistics.
Hotel stays more than tripled year-on-year in October, reaching 382,100, much higher than the 115,700 stays registered in October 2024.
The increase is attributed to the ceasefire with Lebanon since November 2024 and the Gaza ceasefire that began on Oct. 10. In October last year, Israel was fighting on both fronts.
In the first 10 months of this year, the number of hotel stays in Israel reached 2.45 million, a 52-percent increase compared to 1.61 million during the same period last year.
Despite this rise, tourist stays remain well below pre-conflict levels. In the first 10 months of 2023, the figure stood at 7.5 million. ■
