BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Hernan Lopez scored two second-half goals as Argentinos Juniors advanced to the quarterfinals of Argentina's Primera Division Clausura tournament on Saturday with a 2-0 away win over Velez Sarsfield.
Lopez put his side ahead with a low 25-yard drive into the far corner, and he doubled the lead by chipping a first-time effort over goalkeeper Tomas Marchiori.
The hosts suffered another blow in the 74th minute when Agustin Bouzat was sent off for a second yellow card after a bad challenge on Lopez.
In Saturday's only other round-of-16 match, Jose Florentin scored late as Central Cordoba progressed to the last eight with a 2-1 home win over San Lorenzo.
Facundo Gulli gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of halftime before a Lucas Varaldo penalty and Florentin's 91st-minute strike sealed Central Cordoba's passage to the next round.
San Lorenzo finished the match with nine men after Jhohan Romana and Nery Dominguez were shown red cards in the last 25 minutes. ■
