BEIRUT, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- One government employee was killed, and 11 others were injured on Wednesday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a vehicle in the village of al-Tiri in the Bint Jbeil district in southern Lebanon, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

Bilal Cheaito, a treasurer of al-Tiri, was killed when a strike hit his vehicle. The blast also wounded 10 students whose school bus was passing nearby, along with the bus driver, said the report.

According to the NNA, the strike set the targeted vehicle ablaze. Civil defense units responded to extinguish the fire, and the wounded were transported to a hospital in Bint Jbeil.

Security sources told Xinhua that the killed was a member of Hezbollah, without providing further details.

A ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel has been in effect since Nov. 27, 2024, largely ending the clashes that had erupted between the two sides in the wake of the Gaza conflict.

Despite the agreement, the Israeli army occasionally carries out strikes in Lebanon, claiming they are aimed at eliminating Hezbollah "threats," and maintains forces in five main positions in the Lebanese border area.
