ISLAMABAD, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani authorities have confiscated 30 kg of crystal methamphetamine valued at over 450 million rupees (about 1.6 million U.S. dollars) in the country's southwest Balochistan province, according to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Acting on credible intelligence, Pakistan Customs' enforcement teams recently intercepted a vehicle near the bordering area of Panjgur and Washuk districts of the province, the FBR said on Tuesday.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of narcotics, it said, adding that the narcotics were recovered from 30 individually wrapped plastic bags concealed in different hidden compartments of the vehicle.
The FBR said that the operation is part of the ongoing crackdown on cross-border smuggling as Pakistan is committed to combating narcotics smuggling and remains fully dedicated to eliminating the threat to society. ■
