BEIRUT -- The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on Sunday that Israeli forces opened fire near its peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, calling the incident a "serious violation" of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

TEHRAN -- Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that Western governments have renewed calls to resume talks on Tehran's nuclear program after "failing" to achieve their objectives through recent military action, Iran's state news agency IRNA reported.
Araghchi said the appeals for dialogue were "natural" after Western powers "did not achieve what they were after regarding Iran's nuclear program through military attacks," adding that there is no military solution to the dispute. (Iran-West-Nuke Talks)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli security forces said on Sunday they have arrested an Israeli man accused of gathering intelligence for Iran, including by exploiting information from his partner, a reservist at an air force base.
The Shin Bet internal security agency and Israeli police said in a joint statement that the suspect, 27-year-old Shimon Azarzar from Kiryat Yam near Haifa, "maintained direct contact with Iranian intelligence handlers" for more than a year and carried out tasks at their request. DAMASCUS -- Syria's national committee for investigating the Sweida unrest said Sunday that several army and security personnel had been detained after investigations confirmed their violations during the recent unrest in the southern province of Sweida.
Hatem al-Nassan, head of the committee, said during a press conference that the arrests were made after investigators examined videos circulating on social media that clearly showed the faces of individuals accused of committing violations. (Syria-Sweida-Arrest) ■
