MANILA, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Personal remittances from overseas Filipinos reached 3.46 billion U.S. dollars in September 2025, up 3.8 percent in the same month last year, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said Monday.
From January to September 2025, cumulative personal remittances rose 3.2 percent to 28.97 billion dollars, compared with 28.07 billion dollars registered in the same period in 2024, the BSP added.
Personal remittances include cash sent through banks and informal channels, as well as in-kind transfers.
The United States remained the largest source of remittances during the nine months, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
Remittances from an estimated 10 million Filipinos living or working abroad remain a critical source of foreign exchange, accounting for about 9 percent of the Philippines' gross domestic product.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) ranks the Philippines among the world's top 10 remittance recipients, reflecting its role as one of the globe's major labor-sending nations.
Since 2016, the country has deployed an average of more than 2 million migrant workers annually, the ADB noted. ■
