BANGKOK, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's economic growth weakened in the third quarter of 2025, weighed down by softened exports and tourism services amid contractions in government spending, construction and manufacturing output, official data showed on Monday.

The country's gross domestic product (GDP) in the July-September period slowed to 1.2 percent, down from a 2.8 percent expansion in the previous quarter, according to the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC).

On a quarterly basis, the GDP shrank a seasonally adjusted 0.6 percent in the third quarter, indicating the first quarterly drop in nearly three years, the NESDC said in a statement.

For the first nine months of 2025, the economy increased 2.4 percent.

Thailand's economy is expected to increase between 1.2 percent and 2.2 percent in 2026, driven by private domestic demand and a steady recovery in the vital tourism sector, according to the agency.
