
ZHENGZHOU, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Xinxiang Municipal People's Procuratorate in central China's Henan Province has approved the arrest of Shi Yongxin, former abbot of the renowned Shaolin Temple, sources with the procuratorate said Sunday.
Shi is suspected of embezzling funds and other cases. The provincial public security department designated Xinxiang's public security bureau to investigate Shi's case.
Following a request from the bureau, the Xinxiang Municipal People's Procuratorate has lawfully approved the arrest of Shi on suspicion of crimes of duty encroachment, embezzlement of funds, and acceptance of bribes as a non-state functionary, according to the procuratorate. ■
