MACAO, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu will meet in the women's singles final at China's 15th National Games after winning their semifinal matches on Saturday at Macao's Galaxy Arena.
World No. 1 Sun faced Macao veteran Zhu Yuling in the semifinals. The 30-year-old took the first game 11-9, but Sun quickly adjusted to win the next four 11-4, 12-10, 13-11, 11-6.
"She is a former world No. 1, and I looked forward to competing with her after she recovered from illness. Our young players still have a lot to learn from her, so I focused on each point and fought for the win," said 25-year-old Sun of Hebei.
Zhu acknowledged Sun's improvement during the match. "I had a steady performance, but she was more aggressive. I could take the lead temporarily, but it was not enough to win. Playing her more often in tournaments would mean I have done well," Zhu said.
In the other semifinal, second seed Wang swept Shandong's Chen Meng 11-4, 12-10, 11-3, 11-9.
"I didn't expect a 4-0 victory. Chen showed great strength to reach the semifinals, and I prepared carefully. I felt comfortable during the match and hoped to carry the momentum into the final," said Wang of Heilongjiang.
"Overall, I performed better than I expected. I gradually adjusted during my recovery in recent months. At this stage, I can accept mistakes or even losses, as long as I tried my best," said Chen, who won the women's singles title at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
At this year's World Table Tennis Championships in Doha, Sun edged Wang 4-3 to retain her women's singles title. In October, Wang defeated Sun 4-2 to win the 2025 World Table Tennis China Smash women's singles crown.
The women's singles final at the National Games is scheduled for Sunday night. ■
