ATHENS, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Greek authorities have arrested the main suspect behind the large-scale malware network known as Venom RAT, as part of Operation Endgame coordinated by the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol), Greek media reported Thursday.
The operation targeted several major international cybercrime tools, including the Rhadamanthys infostealer, the VenomRAT remote access Trojan, and the Elysium botnet, according to media outlet ekathimerini.
Europol said hundreds of thousands of computers were infected and several million credentials were stolen, with many victims unaware that their systems had been compromised.
The latest phase of the operation, conducted from Nov. 10 to 13, 2025, aims to dismantle global cybercrime infrastructures and combat ransomware facilitators. The main suspect had access to over 100,000 victims' cryptocurrency wallets, with potential losses amounting to millions of euros.
More than 100 law enforcement officers from Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and the United States participated in the coordinated international effort, Europol said. ■
