KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia continued to record a surplus in the current account balance in the third quarter of 2025, amounting to 12.2 billion ringgit (2.95 billion U.S. dollars), supported by resilient goods exports and an improving services sector, official data showed Friday.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement that the services sector posted a surplus for the first time in 14 years, marking a recovery since 2011.

The services account registered a surplus of 0.7 billion ringgit in the third quarter, reversing the deficit of 3.3 billion ringgit recorded in the previous quarter.

This marks a significant milestone after 56 quarters since the third quarter of 2011, buoyed by robust growth in the travel component. (1 ringgit equals 0.24 U.S. dollar)
