ISLAMABAD, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani authorities foiled a major drug smuggling attempt and recovered narcotics valued at over 910 million rupees (about 3.05 million U.S. dollars) in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has said.
Pakistan Customs intercepted a passenger bus in the provincial capital Peshawar based on intelligence reports, the board said Wednesday.
Upon thorough inspection, officials recovered 15.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ICE, concealed inside three specially designed inverters on the vehicle. The driver and conductor were arrested on the spot.
The operation is part of Pakistan's ongoing crackdown on cross-border smuggling and international narcotics trafficking, the FBR said. ■
