BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.73 percent to 4,029.5 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.78 percent higher at 13,476.52 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at over 2.04 trillion yuan (about 287.87 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.95 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to chemicals, ceramics and nonferrous metals led the gains, while those related to textile machinery and electric power suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.55 percent to close at 3,201.75 points Thursday. ■
