TEHRAN/DOHA, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone call on Thursday with Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
According to Iran's Foreign Ministry, the officials reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation and addressed issues of mutual concern, including a recent U.S. draft resolution to the United Nations Security Council proposing international stabilization force in Gaza. The statement said both sides stressed the need for continued consultations to protect the Palestinian people's rights, including their right to self-determination.
Both sides expressed concern over border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan and called on regional countries to use diplomatic channels to maintain peace.
Qatar's Foreign Ministry said the two countries also highlighted the importance of coordinated regional and international efforts to ensure the full implementation of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire in Gaza, which took effect last month, and to support sustainable peace and stability. ■
