KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's construction sector recorded a strong growth of 10.6 percent, with the value of work done reaching 45.4 billion ringgit (10.99 billion U.S. dollars) in the third quarter of 2025, official data showed Wednesday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that the solid performance was primarily driven by the expansion of the special trade activities and residential buildings sub-sectors, which grew by 15.3 percent and 11.6 percent, respectively.
The non-residential buildings sub-sector increased by 10 percent, while the civil engineering sub-sector sustained positive momentum, expanding at a more moderate pace of 8.9 percent.
The private sector remained as the main impetus to the growth in this quarter, contributing 65 percent of the total value.
As for the first three quarters of 2025, the sector registered a total value of 132.2 billion ringgit, reflecting a 13.3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. ■
