VIENTIANE, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Lao authorities are finalizing detailed preparations for the nation's largest sporting event, with a strong focus on promoting unity, national pride, and the sporting spirit across the Southeast Asian country.
The 12th National Games will take place from Nov. 15 to 25, and the organizing committee is working to ensure that all aspects meet national standards.
The Lao Ministry of Public Security held a meeting on Wednesday to finalize the security plan for the event. Officials have pledged to ensure the highest level of safety for all participants and spectators.
To facilitate public attendance and ease traffic congestion, free bus services will be provided throughout the games period.
A full-scale rehearsal for the opening ceremony was held on Monday at the National Stadium in Lao capital Vientiane, featuring an art and cultural performance with full lighting, color, and sound effects. The rehearsal brought together around 2,500 performers from various groups.
The official opening ceremony on Nov. 15 will feature a spectacular showcase of performances, lights, and cultural elements that celebrate unity, sportsmanship, and national pride. Thousands of athletes, artists, and performers from across the country will take part in the ceremony.
In addition, a torch relay will take place on Nov. 14, beginning at That Luang and concluding at the National Stadium. ■
