MANILA, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Net inflows of foreign direct investment (FDI) into the Philippines declined by 40.5 percent year-on-year to 494 million U.S. dollars in August, the Philippine central bank has said.

On a cumulative basis, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said on Monday that the FDI net inflows dropped by 22.5 percent to 5.2 billion dollars in the January-August 2025 period from the 6.7 billion dollars posted in January-August 2024.

For the first eight months of 2025, the BSP said the equity capital placements were sourced primarily from Japan, the United States, Singapore, and South Korea. The industries that received the most of these investments were manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and real estate.
