NEW DELHI, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Indian security forces nabbed at least three doctors and their associates over possessing inflammable material, assault rifles, ammunition, and other banned substances in a major anti-terror crackdown, confirmed official sources on Monday.

The anti-terror operation, which was still ongoing, was carried out in Faridabad district of the northern state of Haryana.

"The latest arrest of highly qualified professionals like doctors involved in a terror module indicates a scary trend of terror networks active in the country," a security expert was quoted as saying.

According to an online report by India Today, one of the doctors arrested was identified as Muzammil Shakeel, who was a faculty member at Al-Falah University located in Faridabad district. "Hailing from Indian-controlled Kashmir, Dr. Muzamil was nabbed by a joint team of Kashmir and Haryana police on Nov. 9," said a senior police officer.

The police recovered 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate, a chemical often used in making improvised explosives (IEDs), stored in 12 suitcases and bags inside Muzamil's house.

Faridabad's Commissioner of Police Satender Kumar Gupta said Muzamil had links with banned terror groups, and had previously posted Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM)-supporting posters in Srinagar.

According to media reports, a series of raids were being carried out at Fatehpur Taga village in Faridabad district based on intelligence inputs. More arrests were expected in the coming days, said local police.
