KABUL, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government's national procurement commission has approved 6 projects worth 3.3 billion afghani (over 49.7 million U.S. dollars) to enhance infrastructure and economic opportunities, the office of the deputy prime minister for economic affairs announced late Sunday.

The commission, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, reviewed 18 proposals across various sectors before green-lighting the 6 initiatives.

The projects include the construction of a water storage dam, rural roads, electricity transmission and the supply of electrical equipment to power companies in multiple provinces, according to the statement.

These initiatives are expected to create thousands of jobs for residents, bolstering the government's push to revive the economy during the ongoing recovery from decades of conflict.

In late October, the commission ratified 22 development projects valued at more than 53 million dollars.

Since taking power in August 2021, the Afghan government has initiated numerous development, agricultural, and infrastructure projects funded by its domestic budget across the country to address economic challenges and generate employment.
