CARACAS, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Real Sociedad right-back Jon Aramburu and Inter Miami midfielder Telasco Segovia were among 35 players named in Venezuela's preliminary squad on Friday for the soccer friendlies against Australia and Canada in the United States.
Interim manager Fernando Aristeguieta also included Botafogo playmaker Jefferson Savarino, Fiorentina defender Luis Balbo and Toulouse midfielder Cristian Casseres.
Venezuela will meet Australia in Houston, Texas, on November 14 and Canada in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, four days later.
The Vinotinto is currently 50th in the FIFA world rankings, behind Australia (25th) and Canada (28th).
Venezuela's hopes of securing a berth at the 2026 World Cup were dashed in September after a 6-3 home defeat to Colombia in the last round of South American qualifying.
The result left the team eighth in the South American group, two points behind seventh-placed Bolivia, which claimed the group's only playoff spot. ■
