MANILA, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' manufacturing output increased in September, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Friday.
Results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries showed that the value of production index (VaPI) rose by 2.4 percent in September this year from 1.6 percent in August.
The VaPI during the month was also higher than that recorded in September 2024.
The volume of production index (VoPI), meanwhile, grew by 1.3 percent, faster than the 0.9 percent seen in August this year.
The PSA attributed the acceleration in the annual growth rate of VaPI for manufacturing in September this year to the faster annual increase in the manufacture of computer, electronic, and optical products.
Other primary contributors to the acceleration were the yearly increment recorded in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products, and the faster yearly increase in the manufacture of transport equipment. ■
