HANOI, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's North-South railway service has been disrupted as torrential rain and flooding caused by Typhoon Kalmaegi washed away sections of the track foundation in the central provinces of Dak Lak and Gia Lai, Vietnam News Agency reported Friday.
About 1,500 passengers on the affected route will be transferred by coach or offered full refunds without processing fees, according to the report.
The railway sector is working to repair the damage.
Typhoon Kalmaegi made landfall in central Vietnam on Thursday evening, leaving at least five people dead and seven others injured, and causing widespread power outages and severe infrastructure damage. ■
